What is *PFAS?

PFAS (or Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances) are a group of manufactured chemicals that have been found to have contaminated sites where there has been historic use of fire-fighting foams that contained PFAS. There is uncertainty around the effects of PFAS exposure and this may be a significant concern for many people living in affected communities. Find out more about PFAS through the Department of Health.
